Louisville received the number one overall seed in the 2009 NCAA Tournament after an upset-filled weekend that saw four of the top six teams in the nation lose in their conference tournaments.

Pittsburgh, North Carolina, and Connecticut also received number one seeds, giving the Big East three top seeds.  All were ranked number one at some point during the regular season.

The Big East, Big Ten, and ACC each received seven bids.  At-large schools from small conferences received only four bids, continuing a downward trend since their high of 12 at-large bids in 2004.

Kentucky missed the tournament, ending a streak of 17 straight appearances.  The longest active tourney streaks are Arizona, at 25 straight, and Kansas, with 20 in a row.  Arizona was a 12 seed, apparently the last at-large team to make the field.

TourneyTravel.com will update the tournament bracket as results become official.  Game times will be added to the bracket when they become available.
