North Carolina Grabs Number One SeedMarch 16, 2008 Click here for the 2008 NCAA Tournament bracket Click here for 2008 NCAA Tournament tickets and travel information The NCAA Tournament Committee agreed with the AP and ESPN polls and named North Carolina the top seed in the 2008 NCAA Tournament. The Tar Heels will face the winner of the play-in game between Mt. St. Mary's and Coppin State. The other top seeds are Memphis, UCLA, and Kansas. All four top seeds won their respective conference tournaments on Sunday. The Big East claimed eight tournament berths; Georgetown, Louisville, conference champ Pittsburgh, Connecticut, Notre Dame, Marquette, West Virginia, and Villanova. The Wildcats were apparently the last team in the field as the lowest-ranked at-large team. Two-time defending champion Florida missed the tournament for the first time since 1998. Arizona made the field for the 24th straight year, the longest current streak. TourneyTravel.com will update the tournament bracket as results become official. Game times will be added to the bracket when they become available. Click here for the 2008 NCAA Tournament bracket.
